Why call it the "bar" exam and not "board" exam?
The bar in the middle of the courtroom is more symbolic than functional. The bar is what distinguishes legal professionals from the general public. Only attorneys are permitted to enter that bar.
This is why it is referred to as the "BAR exam." Only those who have successfully passed the bar are permitted to enter the actual bar in the courtroom and enter their appearance as ATTY.
