Perhaps, among professions that require licensure examinations, the bar exams is the most exciting one. Historically, the results of the bar exams had been the most anticipated news as many were eagerly waiting.
Aside from the sheer numbers of examinees, it is one of the licensure exams that is only given once in a year.
So, if one fails the exams, he has to re-take it next year. As compared to others, like physicians licensure exams, if one fails the March schedule, he can immediately re-take it in the October exams of the same year.
Bar exams is notoriously known for its toughness. One has to be not only intellectually prepared but also emotionally and financially ready.
The rigorous six-month pre bar review entails a lot of reading of numerous reviewers of eight bar review subjects. One has to properly budget his time so that he would be able to cover those subjects.
This is not to mention the daily attendance to the virtual or face-to-face lecture of reviewers.
As in the past, the bar exams results are released either before or after the Holy Week. Either intentional or coincidence, the release is made during the Lenten season to give the bar hopefuls the time to reflect and engage in meaningful prayers.
After the exams, bar examinees must indulge themselves in constant prayers. Prayers are the only powerful weapons they have this time.
This Lenten season is the most opportune for them to do that.
They should seek the Divine guidance that they should be given the courage to accept the results of the exams.
Should they pass, they should remain humble and thank the Lord for this opportunity to serve mankind. In the same vein, their prayers should include that if they fail, they should accept the fact that it is not their time yet.
As Justice Leonen put it, accept it with grace, dignity and integrity.
The Lord is merciful and will not vindictive to one who seeks His guidance. Do not think that He does not love you.
Everything happens for a reason. Remember that if you will not pass this year, then you will make it in His own time.
